The Hofburg

The Hofburg is Vienna’s most historic palaces and has been the official residence of every Austrian ruler since 1275. With architectural stylings from Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo movements, the Hofburg is a must see attraction. The 59-acre palace and grounds contains 18 groups of buildings, including 19 courtyards and 2,600 rooms as well as the Imperial Apartments, the Sisi Museum, the Imperial Chapel (Burgkapelle) and the Natural History Museum (Naturhistorisches Museum). Emperor Francis I founded the Vienna Zoo in 1752 making it the oldest zoo in the world. Many of the original Baroque buildings are still intact as well as the original 18th -century Imperial Breakfast Pavilion that houses a café. With more than 750 species and an interactive Rainforest House and Aquarium, the Tiergarten Schönbrunn is a must-see destination. Prater Park and the Giant Ferris Wheel

Set between the Danube and the Danube Canal, Prater Park is a 3200-acre theme park which includes the famous Giant Wheel built by the British engineer Walter Basset in 1896, now a Viennese landmark that has provided incredible views over the city since 1896, the Prater Ziehrer Monument, a Planetarium; and the Liliputbahn miniature steam railroad traversing a four-kilometer line near the main avenue.

Places to drive to

Liechtenstein Castle was built 1130 for Prince of Liechtensteinis is situated just 30 minutes drive along the A23. The Burg Liechtenstein was featured in the 1993 movie The Three Musketeers and the annual Nestroy Theatre Festival is held here every summer. Guided tours of the castle are available and last just under 1 hour. A free car park is available for visitors to the castle.
